About
Based in Chicago, Peripheral Study’s mission is to make opportunities for in-depth learning accessible to working artists. Learning from and with one another in community is a vital practice enabling artists to grow, develop, and flourish. PS supports these practices by providing structures for interdisciplinary learning: workshops and classes, an online publication/newsletter, and other collective efforts.
Amidst structural disinvestment in the arts and humanities, Peripheral Study envisions a robust ecosystem of self-organized teaching and learning among artists as a means to make learning opportunities accessible and promote resource- and skill-sharing. It engages practitioners working across various interrelated worlds of art, technology, learning, and critical social practice, crafting pedagogical spaces for the expansion of new practices, techniques, and approaches to working and relating in the contemporary moment.
Peripheral Study is currently organized by Madeleine Brucker, a Chicago-based artist, designer, and researcher.
